About Us
Dear Florisa,
Thank you so much for everything you did for me to help my Dad come back to Somers Manor (our home away from home). You are incredible. I was so stressed and you came through. All the best to you and your family.
I learned more from you in an hour that totally changed my preconceived perception of nursing homes. Not only was everyone so welcoming, friendly, professional, etc., but the patients appeared so well cared for and loved. I can honestly say that it would be a pleasure to visit and spend tons of time at your facility. Most remarkably is the lack of an odor upon entering and walking around all areas of the nursing home...something I never encountered before.
Should the need arise for a nursing home in the future, I'm heading right back to Somers Manor, and will certainly pass along my A+ recommendation to others that may be in a similar situation.
Thank you for your time and opening my eyes that there is another place almost like home.
Cordially,
I live nearby so I visit very often and I see how all the staff interacts with the residents. I can tell they really care about the residents and that is so very important. It is obvious that they all work as a team and in the best interest of the residents. It truly makes Somers Manor a home away from home.
Sincerely,
Kind regards,
Thanks for "allowing" my Mom and I to share a little more time together.
With gratitude and friendship,
I am not one to write comments a lot, but this is one of the very few times where I am compelled to do so.
In regards to all of the staff I have met so far - THEY ARE INCREDIBLE -. I cannot say enough about how loving and thoughtful EVERYBODY is.
From the Nurse Supervisor and Nurses, the Recreational Team and Nurses Aides, all the way down to the Dining Room personnel, each and every one made me fall in love with them. Their compassion, love and care for the residents is apparent in everything they do. I have never heard a hard word or observed impatience from anybody and they are surely earning their place in heaven. I don't know how you do it, but whatever it is, don't ever change. I have heard horror stories about nursing homes but haveing been in Rehab myself at Somers Manor a few years ago I can say from the bottom of my heart Somers Manor should be a role model for every Nursing Home. Even my mom, age 90, with her mind so confused after her second stroke, tells me every time I visit how wonderful everybody is.
Again, please pass on to everybody, my sincerest Thank you and gratitude.
Warmest Regards and Best Wishes,
First let me say thank you to you and the entire staff of Somers Manor Nursing Home for caring for my Mother Rose Testa. People are often to quick to criticize and to slow to say thank you. I am writing this note to say thank you for all the wonderful services you have provided my Mother and our family over the past years, and continue to do so today.
My Mother Rose T. was in Somers Manor on 4 separate occasions as I recall for rehabilitation and was released much better each of 3 times and finally admitted the fourth time. What makes my Mothers case interesting is that when she was able to be sent home safely after the excellent care and rehabilitation by your staff, our family was advised of what her next steps were and the transition back to her home in Mt. Kisco was made easy and safe by your staff. This forth time she needed 24 hour a day, 7 day a week care, and we the family were advised by your staff that the only safe release would be with 24/7 care. My sister and I worked through many scenarios and decided that Somers Manor was the #1 option for Mom. Sometimes there is a stigma about putting a loved one in a nursing home, but in our case there was no such concern, because Mom is in a real HOME, a safe, clean and wonderful home where people attend to her every need with loving care. Her needs are cared for way before she has to ask for anything, but if she needs something all she has to do is ask and she gets immediate attention. I have visited with my Mom every day of the week in the past couple of months and at varying hours during the day, and each shift of employees all have the same loving and caring attitude towards Mom, they all know her as Rose or Rosie, they all say hi and all treat her with respect and dignity. What a wonderful place for someone who is having memory issues and her body at 92 ˝ years old is no longer working as well as it used to. I ask my Mom every day how she is doing, and every day she tells me that “they keep me so busy, and the food is so good”. I ask her how she likes being there and she always says how happy she is. Just today she was in activities and I visited, she could not wait to return to listen to the “old” Italian tunes sung masterfully in Italian by an elderly gentleman. What a great way to spend a day for someone in my Mom’s situation. As a mater of fact it is hard for me to find her in her room and get her on the phone until after 8 PM, she is always busy. I would like to recognize all the wonderful staff in the Rehabilitation center, the Nursing Staff and the Aides at Berkshire and now Carlyle wings, as well as the dining areas, what wonderful and dedicated people you have at Somers Manor. Specifically I would like to thank you and Mercedes Garcia in administration, Lisa Rosario the Social worker, Debbie Migliaccio and Donna Drelilycz of Berkshire, Christine Khaleeli of rehabilitation and Kathleen Ward in activities, and of course Gloria Percich and the wonderful aides and nursing staff of Carlyle. I would also like to mention that it all starts at the front desk with a warm welcome from whoever is on duty, but I have gotten to know Roberta Fiala and wanted to mention how very nice she is when I often arrive with my 10+ odd questions.
Thanks again to you and all the wonderful people at Somers Manor, you made the transition for my Mother from a private residence to your Nursing Home easy and smooth, with kindness and caring for both my Mom and the Family,
Sincerely with warm regards,

Re: Appreciation for Excellent Services
The family of John H. would like to thank the team at Somers Manor for the excellent care he has been given during 2009.
We especially want to thank the Essex Unit Staff for providing total care that has enabled John to be well overall. Each member of the Essex Team has helped us multiple times and we are afraid if we start listing names that we will miss one – they are all great! We appreciate the excellent Medical and Speech/Swallowing Services. The Nursing Team and Aides are knowledgeable, caring and always willing to answer questions. They deserve credit for setting the tone that makes the Essex Unit great. Ellen’s excellent Social Service advisement has guided the family through the difficult initial adjustments. Dietician Chris and previously Angela have worked with the family to provide solutions to John’s low interest in food. The Activities Team never gave up, and now John regularly attends activities. The overall environment is positive, and we sincerely want to thank the Essex Unit for excellent services.
We also want to thank the Admissions Team who worked with our family initially and then again when they re-admitted John after a very rough start. It was the day before Christmas, yet Florissa took the time to listen and help guide us. She was also a key in the process by making us aware of the importance of starting the Medicaid application right away. The Admissions and Financial Staff all helped us professionally and with care. They are a team to be proud of!
Thank you also to Laurie from Social Services for helping guide us through John’s early days at Somers Manor. Their guidance and help with the Power of Attorney was critical in allowing us to setup care. The Tate Team deserves credit for helping also.
When we look back, we wonder how we got through a very rough start, and then realize it was only possible due to the excellent overall team at Somers Manor.
Thank You,
The Family of John H.

Dear Florisa,

Dear Joy,
My husband came to Somers Manor as a sub acute rehab patient in the Berkshire unit and is now in Scarborough. I am writing to tell you how pleased we are with the care he is getting.
I live nearby so I visit very often and I see how all the staff interacts with the residents. I can tell they really care about the residents and that is so very important. It is obvious that they all work as a team and in the best interest of the residents. It truly makes Somers Manor a home away from home.
Sincerely,
Kathryn F.
Dear Pat,
There are so many staff at Somers that interacted with Esther Bourne during her decade plus stay...That aside, my husband and I want to thank everyone at Somers for their care and concern. Somers was "home" for Esther, and during the beginning of the end, she was not comfortable being away from Somers.
Kind regards,
Lovie and Frederick B.
Dear Entire Tate Staff,
I don't know where to begin to thank you for all you did for my Mom and our family. Your support got me through a very difficult time in my life and your expert care of my Mom allowed her to reach her dream to be 100 years old.
Thanks for "allowing" my Mom and I to share a little more time together.
With gratitude and friendship,
Margaret
